The term, Robber Baron, was originally use to describe medieval German lorde who ilegal charged exorbitante tolls on ships traversing the Rhine. the term was first popularizes by U.S. policial and economia comentador Matthew Josephson during the Great Depression, amid public scorn for big businesses. This pejorative term has now been use to describe powerful American businessman of the 19th Century.
